US life expectancy decline reported by CCN Health
Not arguing about reasons for decline, just looking at the numbers published in the article here https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/26/health/us-life-expectancy-decline-study/index.html on 11/26/23019 at 1:44PM ET. First we read that life expectancy grew from 69.9 in 1959 to 78.9 in 2016 which is not a bad news, we get 9 years increase. But later in the article we get confused by the author saying that it has declined from 78.9 years in 2014, to 78.6 in 2017. Checking other sources like https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/09/us-life-expectancy-has-been-declining-heres-why.html we confirm that life expectancy was at 78.9 in 2014 and 78.7 in 2016 and 78.6 in 2017. It is good that author trigger readers curiosity and make them to read more from other sources. But someone just reading first couple paragraphs could be kept in darkness about reality… Probably existence of editors was a good thing of the past…
